I read a piece of news recently. It says that in Japan marly businessmen ave selling fresh air to customers.and now it is becoming more and more popular. Why? --Fresh air is getting less and less in Japan, and so is it in the U. S. A.
In fact, environmental pollution is a very serious problem the whole world is facing.it is mainly caused by the waste products released from artificial substances, industrial
production and increased consumption of goods. Bedsides, the use of chemical substances in agriculture also causes environmental pollution. Look at the sky, you can see that dense smoke is being released from the high and big chimneys; those dirty and poisonous substances are flowing into the rivers that we use for drinking water and millions of tons of waste products are heaping around us.
How to change this condition? More and more countries are trying to work out some effective means to bring it under control, but no great success has been made.
Online Shopping
Several decades ago, it should be a marvelous wonder to purchase our favorite gifts only by clicking the mouse and then just waiting for the door knock by a smiling expressive delivery courier with the exact package you ordered. While, today, it is no long a rare case. Combined with the fast food, the digital communication , online shopping has been a common part of our life.
Admittedly, on line shopping offers magical convenience. For example, it saves time and offers numerous choices since floods of information can be supplied on Internet. While, every coin has tow sides and online shopping
is no different. Have you still remembered the annoying time when you found the commodities you buy on Internet was not the slightest as what you had expected and long time had to be taken for its replace and even compensation. Actually, just with the seemingly beautiful pictures of the products on Internet, it is hard for us to make rational choices. After all, seeing is believing.
Then, what should we do? The foremost is to enforce establish some relevant laws and regulations, with strong supervision over some shopping websites being reinforced as well. Then, the consumers also should be equipped with more alert in case of being trapped once again. Remember, any fast –and- easy things asks for big prices to be paid.
Nowadays, in an ever tighter job market, great importance has been attached to an interview by both the employer and the applicant. The interview, so to speak, has become indispensable for getting a
satisfactory job. On the one hand, the interviewer can take advantage of the occasion to learn about the candidates, such as their work
experiences, education and their personalities, so as to pick out the right person for the company. On the other hand, the interviewee can make use of the opportunity to get to know the job he is going to take up, the salary, the working conditions and many other things about the job he is interested in.
Therefore, the job interview is very important to a job-hunter. But how can one succeed in it? Firstly of all, the interviewee must pay attention to his or her appearance. The first impression is always where we start. Get dressed properly and neatly. Secondly, good manners are equally
important. Don’t be too proud, and neither too timid. Just be courteous. Thirdly, the interviewee must demonstrate his aptitude and skills for the job and his knowledge about eh job-related areas. Be confident. Last but not the least, the interviewee ought to be honest about his or her
personal as well as academic background, To sum up, the job interview is indeed important, but there is no need to be nervous. As long as the interviewee has the ability for the job, with careful preparation and a fairly confident and honest performance, his or her success can be ensured.
With the development of our society, the campus no longer is an "Ivory Tower". It is necessary for college students to go outside to get to know the world. They should acquire knowledge not only from books but also from the society. Thus(因此) they can adapt to society more quickly after they graduate from school. Science and technology are developing rapidly with each passing day. Most students can keep themselves informed by watching
TV, listening to the radio, reading newspapers and using computers. It’s also good to take a part-time job, such as tutoring(辅导), or working in a restaurant. Any of these methods will enable students to get in touch with society.
Summer vacation will soon be here. I’ve already enrolled(登记) to be a volunteer to help others. I think I can do well. Although I won’t be paid, the most important thing is that I can learn a lot about society.
Living in the 21st century offers certain advantages, such as a higher standard of living, but it also has some disadvantages, such as a polluted environment.
To begin with, most people now have more money for less hard work. They earn higher salaries than before and enjoy better social security, such as social welfare for laid-off workers and disability insurance.
Secondly, because of the advance in medical technology which leads to better medical care and treatment, people’s life expectancy is longer. Moreover, most people now can afford to buy foods of high nutrition and enjoy their leisure time.
Thirdly, modern conveniences such as radio, TV, internet, various vehicles and labour-saving machines in the home, all greatly facilitate human communication, transportation and housework as well.
Nevertheless, living in the 21st century also has its disadvantages. The most serious one is the increasingly polluted environment; air is filled with smog and water is contaminated by iehemicals from factories.Another main disadvantage is the personalization of human relattonships which mostly result from people’s ever-increasing contact with machines and numbers. Still one more disadvantage is the weakening of spiritual values. An undeniable fact is that a large number of people are solely interested in materialistic culture, while neglecting spiritual civilization. Limited by space, we have to skip the examples.
In conclusion, although the 21st century has indeed given us a lot of advantages, it may not have made us wiser, because it has also made our earth dirtier, our people less humane, and our spirituali iife poorer, We shpuld continue to enjoy the benefits of technological
advancement,however, we must
make a concerted effort to preserve our natural environment for future generations. Moreover, we should take the time now to make our lives more meaningful in anihcreasingly impersonal, computerized world.
Failure is not a stranger to life. It can happen anywhere, anytime and to anyone. No person succeeds all the time. The more development you want to make, the more failure you might encounter. So, people are faced with failure now and then.
There are different attitudes towards failure. Some people are afraid of failure and they can not bear the blow of failure, so they stay where they
are and try to not to mike progress. Some optimists, however, fight against failure bravely and achieve all his aims at last.
My attitude is that we aren’t afraid of failure. When we meet with failure, we don’t lose heart. We should call up all our courage and
persist in what you are engaged in. Remember the proverb: Where there is a will, there is a way.
How to improve psychological health?
As is known to all, psychological health is as important as, if not more important than, physical health for a student during his/her growth. However, it’s quite worrying that nowadays some students are not quite psychologically healthy. Undoubtedly, schools nd universities should take great account in the responsibilities of studentspsychological health. Relevant courses and activities should be introduced to students so that they would be more aware of the significance of psychological health and find appropriate ways to maintain and improve it. For example, there should be a psychological counseling hotline or office for students to turn to when they need some psychological aid.
Of course no psychological health can be obtained without the efforts from the students themselves. From my perspective, what they can do is trying to stay positive, optimistic and follow the right guidelines from their schools. To be more specific, they can participate in some
activities such as voluntary work to cultivate an opening and caring mind. Meanwhile, harmful impacts from the cyber space should definitely be avoided
We Chinese place a high value on responsibility. It is traditional deal for us Chinese to take care of our parents. We owe them a great deal for the love they give us while we are growing up. It is right, then, when they are getting older with each passing day, we help them and see that they are well cared for. In this way, we give back some of the love and care they have given to us.
As loyal Chinese citizens, we must have a strong sense of responsibility to our country. I t is our duty to keep China strong in the eyes of the world. Therefore, we should study and work hard for China’s strongness
which also depends on the advanced science and technology. We must be
willing to join the Army and defend our country, would we be threatened by an invader(侵入者). In short, to be a responsible citizen ,we must put our country’s welfare above our own needs. Finally, we must remember that we have a responsibility to the world we live in. It is important that we learn to live in peace with the other nations of the world and to protect our environment. If we carry out these responsibilities, we will be respected (受尊敬的)citizens of our country.
Many people are inclined to do one job in their lives. In their opinions, people who change their jobs frequently are superficial and tactless. They believe that the only way to success is to stick to one job, for constant practice in a professional field helps make an txpert.
But there are still many people who don’t agree. They argue that change means progress. If you are not satisfied with your present job, of course you have the right to replace it with a more challenging and better paid one. Every change is a step to further success. This idea may be. the reason why they change their jobs so often.
For my part, I think it reasonable to change your job if you have a better opportuniry. But once you have found a position where you can fully display your ability, it is advisable to settle down to it and put all your efforts into it. Only in this way, can you get the true joy of achieving your goal.
For thousands of years, people have accepted challenges in different fields. There are not only physical challenges, but also social
andintellectual(聪明的) challenges. Some people risk(冒险) their lives in playing sports to see how well they can do. Others try to make and invent(发明) something to make life easier. They all enjoy challenges.
Why do people enjoy these challenges? There are probably many reasons. One is curiosity. The other is the personal feeling of success, of achievement, and nowadays, for some people, it is a business.
Today, we still have many challengers before us. Medical science faces the challenges of conquering many diseases which still attack human
beings. Engineers and planners must build new cities, design and produce new kinds of transportation. Scientists must develop new forms of energy. In short, we live in an age of challenges.
There is no denying the fact that it is a controversial topic whether one should expect a reward when doing a good deed. People's opinions differ sharply on this issue. Some hold the positive view. They say that it is a natural thing for one to get rewarded after he has made contributions to the society, especially in an age of market economy. Otherwise, people would be discouraged from helping others.
Others, however, hold the opposite view. They maintain that one should learn from Lei Feng and expect no reward when helping others. Anyway, everything is not a commodity. The whole society would be in danger if we all calculated conscience and affection in terms of money. Anyway, as the saying goes, it is love, instead of money, that turns the world around.
Personally, I believe that we should not go to extremes. On the one hand, we should recognize and reward in time people who have done a good deed or good deeds; on the other hand, we should keep it in mind that we do not help others for money, but out of love and responsibility. Only in this way can we achieve a really harmonious society.
A test of spoken English has been included as an optional component of College English Test (CET). Some people argue that it is absolutely necessary to hold a test of spoken English in China because we have been informed frequently that a Chinese student who has been learning English for over ten years cannot even communicate with a native speaker. A test of spoken English will bring the college students an awareness of the importance of oral English, and will thus help them with their communicating skills.
On the other hand, some others still maintain that a good command of reading and writing skills will be enough for the English learners. To some extent their opinion derives from the fact that students are already under considerable pressure from their coursework. Another required test will only add to their burden.
In my opinion, a test of spoken English does more good than harm. Since China will continue its policy of opening and reform, the ability to speak English fluently is a must for anyone who wants to surpass others in a highly competitive society. Whether I take the test or not, I shall spare no efforts to practice oral English in the remaining years of my college study.
There is no denying the fact that e-books have gained increasing popularity in the past years along with the development of information technology. Taking a look around, we can find examples too numerous to list. Actually, modern readers seem to spend more time on e-books than on traditional ones.
As a consequence, it has emerged as a hotly debated topic whether e-books will take the place of traditional books in the future. Some hold the positive view. They claim that it is natural for books to be come electronic as mankind steps into a digital age. Compared with traditional books, e-books have some obvious advantages. For one thing, it is convenient to read on line as modern people have easy access to the Internet. For another, reading e-books saves money.
Personally, I believe that e-books cannot replace all traditional books. First, you can mark a traditional book and write your comments in the margin but you can hardly do that on e-books. Secondly, to many people, only the smell of print and the feel of paper can provide the true sense of reading and learning. Therefore, in my opinion, traditional books will still exist in the future.
“Listening is more important than talking.”This proverb meansthat listening is something worthwhile to consider when we havecommunication with others.
People often focus on their speaking ability, believing thatgood speaking equals good communication. There is some truth inthis statement, but people who hold this opinion ignore a moreimportant fact. God gave people two ears and one mouth, so itrequires us to keep the ratios of listening and speaking by two toone. The ability to speak well is a necessary component tosuccessful communication. The capability of listening is asimportant as speaking in that listening is the best respect forpeople around us. Listen attentively when others are speaking. Itis the best and the most effective compliment that you can givethem.
To conclude, Listening can prevent interruption or formulate aresponse even before other speakers have finished. Good listenersare often some of the best speakers who can improve the quality ofthe communication. So listeners should interact with speakers, andrespond promptly.
Learning is a daily experience and a lifetimemission. This is a proverb full of logic. Inother words, learning is significant in our whole life. Indeed, wecan learn many things from it. If you understand it and apply it toyour study or work, you’ll necessarily benefit a lot from it.
There are many reasons which can explain this phenomenon and thefollowing are the typical ones. The first reason is that learningcan light our road in the coming future. There is no denying thefact that the society is developing increasingly fast and we areoften easily surpassed by the people around. The only way to avoidthis is to learn to improve ourselves. As an illustration, I’d liketo take myself as an example. After graduation from college, mylife has been full of working pressure, which contributes to mydecision of pursuing further education. That’s why I can make myown way in such a competitive society.
The effect of learning can be boiled down to two major ones. First, with the spirit of learning, we are more capable of overcoming thedifficulties in the future. More importantly, we can enrich ourspare time life by learning. No matter who you are, you mustremember that learning is the basic skill in our life.
While we often hear some people say that they have great plans and fantastic dreams, they seldom put their plans into reality. These people are the talker not the actor. However, it is the actor not the talker who can achieve the goal.
Rome was not built in one day. We should realize our dream step by step. Although one day’s improvement is little, it can finally become tremendous, so we should not look down upon the trival things. Take study for example, those who stand out in the class are often not the smart ones who ignore everyday actions but the ones who are deligent and devide their dreams into everyday’s action.
Therefore, go out there to see what happens, and go out there to make something happen. Only when you go out to act everyday can you make your dreams come true
There is an old saying “Never go out there to see what happens, go out there to make things happen”. It’s the experience of our forefathers, however,it is correct in many cases even today.
Only when you participate more can you make things perfect. Participation has been more and more important in the society. Students are asked to enter society and get some ideas of it. Surely participation has many advantages. Firstly, it can offer students a chance to contact society and meet different kinds of people. In this way people can gain some valuable social experience, which will be useful to their future life. Secondly, as college students, we can apply what they have learned in class to practical work, thus knowing themselves more clearly. Take the study of oral English for example, participation in any chances of communications with others in English, which enables us to become fluent in speaking.
In summary, participation is the key factor in our daily life no matter who you are, no matter what you are doing. We should put their studies in the first place and see participation just as a useful supplement, so they ought to try to strike a balance between them.
“Listening is more important than talking.”This proverb means that listening is something worthwhile to consider when we have communication with others.
People often focus on their speaking ability, believing that good speaking equals good communication. There is some truth in this statement, but people who hold this opinion ignore a more important fact. God gave people two ears and one mouth, so it requires us to keep the ratios of listening and speaking by two to one. The ability to speak well is a necessary component to successful communication. The capability of listening is as important as speaking in that listening is the best respect for people around us. Listen attentively when others are speaking. It is the best and the most effective compliment that you can give them.
To conclude, Listening can prevent interruption or formulate a response even before other speakers have finished. Good listeners are often some of the best speakers who can improve the quality of the communication. So listeners should interact with speakers, and respond promptly.
Its no doubt that university campuses will produce a large amount of rubbish every day, however, there are fewer college students paying attention to its classification.
Factually waste separation is vital to create an environment-friendly campus. Firstly, waste separation does great contribution to the environmental protection. Since some of waste is recyclable, while other is unrecyclable, if all the students could voluntarily differentiate recyclable rubbish from unrecyclable rubbish, the risk of the environmental pollution will be greatly reduced. Secondly, waste separation could save a lot of energy and tirne on its processing.
With the rapid increase in the amount of rubbish at the campus, rubbish classmification does not permit of any delay. On the one hand, as the well-educated people, college students should act as hosts of the universities and separate waste from this moment in their daily life. On the other hand, university authorities should strengthen students awareness of environmental protection and guide students to separate waste in a reasonable way.
According to a recent survey, in the last few years, quite a number of young people have chosen to quit their demanding but highly-paid jobs. Although they may have their own respective reasons, I dont think their decisions are wise in reality.
Its true the case is not unique. Some people choose to do something less competitive so that they can lead a comfortable, easy life that a highly-paid job cannot obtain. They are afraid that the stresses and strains of work will rob them of joy and happiness and do them harm both physically and mentally. In fact, however, stress isnt the bad thing it is often supposed to be. A certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and challenge, and to give significance to an idle life. People under stress are likely to express their full range of potential and to realize goal of a human life.
Stress is a natural part of everyday life and there is no way to avoid it. What we can do is to learn to deal with it rather than to escape from it.
In recent years, with the increasingly fierce competition, more and more people are bearing great pressure from study, work and life. Under great pressure, many people begin to become sad, hopeless and finally suffer from depression.
Depression has brought great bad influence on ones study, work and life. In fact, depression affects not only ones mind but also his body. Those with severe depression even are unable to continue their work or carry out normal activities. The symptoms mainly include feelings of sadness, hopelessness, not wanting food and trouble sleeping. Besides, depression is linked to many other diseases, like heart disease. Whats worse, depression is one ofthe main courses of peoples suicide.
Considering the bad effects of depression, it must be taken more seriously. For those patients with depression, first of all, it is important to accept treatment timely instead of covering or ignoring the disease. Besides, people should learn to release pressure and keep a pleasant mood. ActuaUy, the best treatment is a combination of medication and psychological help. Only in this way can people reduce the chance of suffering from depression or get rid of it.
As the drawing presents, there is a man walking across the street absorbedly focusing on his cell phone without noticing the surroundings. This sort of phenomenon is not uncommon and rare in some metropolis, especially among the youngsters.
What the picture illustrates is the prevailing situation that has long existed in todays China. That is the mobile phone obsession. With the advent of information age, people are becoming increasingly fascinated on the electronic products, especially the cell phones. Not surprisingly, you could easily notice that most of us are obsessed in sending messages, playing online games with their mobile phones. It cannot be denied that this phenomenon may negatively impact the relationship among people, and therefore they will become estranged and isolated.
Personally, in view of the overuse of mobile phones, I hold that we individuals should raise the necessary awareness that good relationship are reinforced by sincere and face-to-face communication.
The Craze of Pursuing Graduate Studies
Each year, millions of Chinese college students sit for qualifying examinations for graduate studies, primarily in Master’s programs. Students prepare for those examinations either through years of arduous self-education or by spending large sums of money attending local training schools. The publishing of examinations-related study materials and the training programs offered, both online and offline, have combined to form a sizable industry.
An alarming fact about this craze is that most students pursue graduate studies not out of their voluntary will. Faced with the harsh reality in the employment market, which is forever looking for graduates with higher degrees, many college graduates find going to graduate schools is a good way to avoid unemployment and to enhance one’s competitiveness in future job hunting.
However, without that voluntary initiative, most students who do enter graduate schools are not motivated. For them, the only thing that ultimately counts is the degree or the diploma which they expect could give them an upper hand against other job hunters. As to the actual substance of their graduate studies, it’s not a big deal for them, as long as it leads to that degree or diploma. It is really pathetic to see that students undertake graduate studies with an ulterior motive—not for the sake of loving what they study, but for the sake of merely landing a job, which in many cases might be unrelated to what they have studied.
The chill truth is that students soon find their anticipations are a mere dream. As so many undergraduates proceed onto graduate studies, the employment situation remains as severe as ever. Instead of bringing about apparent competitive edges, two or three years of additional academic training is simply a waste of time and energy. They need to reflect on this craze and would have been better off distinguishing themselves with outstanding knowledge and skills when they were undergraduates.
There are many arguments about the advantages and disadvantages of examination. Some people think examination is the only way to test how examinees have mastered what they have studied and it is the only measurement for examiners to select which persons they need. While, on the other hand, some object that examination can’t measure how the students have really studied. They say it can do nothing but burden the students.
As for me, I think for both examiners and examinees, the examination can show what and how much the examinees have mastered. The results of examinations are just like mirrors for both examiners and examinees. Through examination the examiners can know whether they have done well, so that they’ll make much improvement in their work. As far as examinees are concerned, they can not only know how they have studied but also find out what they are still unknown or what they haven’t mastered well. Thus, they will be inspired to make greater efforts to improve their studying method so as to make greater progress. Of course, too many examinations are burdens to both examiners and examinees.
In sum, the examination does more good than harm for both examiners and examinees. We must take a correct attitude towards examination. We should take full advantage of it and avoid its disadvantage.
Generally speaking, twoay weekends are not only a time for us college students to relax, but also a time to improve ourselves. To test from a week’s hard work, we have plenty of recreation opportunities. We can read to our hearts’ content, can go sightseeing, and can play games with our friends. Some students find partime jobs at weekends so that they can ease their families’ financial burdens.
However, some students are just wasting their time. Some spend their time playing cards, and even drinking and eating with their friends. Some spend the whole weekend going traveling and feel tired when they return to school, so that their studies will be greatly affected.
As a student, I think the first thing I should do is to go over the lessons. Spending two or three hours in going over lessons every weekend will give me great returns. After finishing my schoolwork, I can do many other things, for example, mountain climbing, watching films and skating. In short, if we plan well, we can achieve a bit on weekends. Otherwise, we’ll get nothing.
The conception of green consumption has gradually become popular in China. More and more green foods are making their appearance on the market and more and more people are becoming conscious of environmental protection.
However, there still exist quite a few difficulties in the further promotion of green consumption. On the one hand, many people are still not quite clear of the advantages of green foods. On the other hand, due to high profits, many fake green foods are found in the market. Moreover, many consumers don’t want to pay extra money for green foods.
There may be several ways to solve these problems. Firstly, the government should supervise the good quality strictly to protect consumers’ interests. Secondly, the conception of green consumption should be further promoted and emphasized. Thirdly, the government should work together with manufacturers to make the price more reasonable.
Our English teacher, Miss Liang is the best teacher I have so far. She has not only treated us as her younger sisters and brothers, but is also enthusiastic and conscientious in her teaching.
She is thirtyix, but she does not look her age for she is attractive and delicate. In class she is dignified and reserved and after class she plays and jokes with us. She is our friend as well as our teacher.
She is never tired of helping us in our work. She patiently answers our questions all in English. Also, we are required to prepare our lessons before coming to class. Furthermore, no matter how many new words there are in the texts, we are told to look up their meanings in the dictionary. She knows how to help her students to achieve the best result in the limited time.
With Miss Liang as our teacher, all of us have made amazing progress in our English study. She is both our best friend and best teacher. We all like her very much.
If anyone wants to find a job, he or she will have to go through a job interview, which is advantageous to both the interviewer and the interviewee.
In a job interview, the interviewer usually offers detailed information about the job under discussion, such as the nature of the job, the working condition and the payment for the job etc. This may help the interviewee decide whether he really wants the job or not.
For the interviewee, a job interview provides him with a good opportunity to display his merits. He may take the chance to introduce his educational background and exhibit his self- confidence and competence in the job applied. All this will give the interviewer a good impression, which will, in turn, increase his chance of getting the job.
The prosperity of a nation depends on the development of education. Throughout the world whatever advance has been made in science and technology is due to education, which brings forth by scientists and inventors. It is never overdone no matter how one emphasizes the importance of education. There is no doubt that countries with undeveloped education will remain poor.
Education is as vital to the development of an individual as it is to that of a nation. Of all the elements of success in our careers none is more vital than education. It is not the genius that makes the difference between success and failure. Education is the driving power. In fact, most of the famous people in our times spent many years in studies. Can you name any great men you admire who are not educated persons?
Yet some people are still ignorant of its importance. Some parents, especially in the countryside, think that it is unnecessary to send their children to school. Some other parents are so selfish that they have their children work for money. In consideration of the situation, compulsory education must be enforced to ensure that there will be enough educated young people for the future of our country.
Its Time to Stop Software Piracy China has often been criticized for the rampant practice of software piracy. Take a look around. We operate on pirated Windows systems, defend PC security with pirated Kaspersky anti-virus programmes, process files with pirated Microsoft Office, draft 3D designs with pirated AutoCAD, refine pictures with pirated Adobe Photoshop, and study English with pirated Kingsofts electronic dictionaries and translators. Its no exaggeration that pirated software is everywhere.
The logic behind the phenomenon is simple and clear: if a pirated copy is available for just a tiny fraction of the normal price, not to speak of many of the free downloads online, who would pay for an authentic copy? Cheaper prices aside, easy access is another important factor. With such a large gathering of pirated upgrades around, who would bother to spend time and money searching the stores for an authorized yet outdated version?
Despite these apparent benefits, the practice of software piracy should be banned, because it represents unfair competition and by nature its a no-win situation. But how? Two approaches are to be taken at the same time: Technically, software developers should enhance their antipiracy engineering, so that cracking the software should be virtually impossible. And legally, the government should also tighten its antipiracy laws and toughen up the penalties, so that violations should be costly.
Nowadays, more and more undergraduates are pursuing fashion. Some of them even cut down the expenditure on books and meals to satisfy their desire for fashionable items.
The blind following of fashion has had a great influence on college students. First of all, the pursuit of fashion has made many college students get lost. Some of them even fail to focus on their study. Secondly, it is a costly hobby to follow the tide, which will impose great financial burden on their parents.
As far as I am concerned, college students should cherish ambitions rather than become slaves of fashion. As for them, the main task on campus is not to pursue fashion but to study. All in all, undergraduates should adopt a more reasonable attitude towards the pursuit of fashion.
Selfducation brings success. Though we students have teachers to help us, still we should pay more attention to selftudy. Here are some suggestions.
First, read outside our class. Every new book one reads will benefit him in one way or another. The more we read, the more we are benefited. As life is short and knowledge is infinite, we should try to read as many books as we can.
Second, improve our memory and reasoning powers. If we read more and more, we can make our memory and reasoning powers improve to some degree. Moreover, we shall be able to write more clearly and correctly.
Third, develop our character. When we have formed the habit of reading, we can put into practice what they have taught and build up a good character.
In a word, if we want to educate ourselves, the most important thing for us to do is to read not only our textbooks, but also any other books that are within our reach.
As it is necessary for college students to take an active part in social activities, the Student Union decides to organize a social practice during the summer holiday and is now recruiting volunteers.
We will show the plan and the arrangement to all the students who want to join us.Our plan is to depart next weekend, when the summer vacation officially begins. And,
our purpose is to supply our service to the Olympic Games. The first destination is Nanjing, the world famous city for its beauty and mild temperature. We’Il take the train and stay there for
l day,and then we’ll head for Shanghai.During the 3-day stay there,we will help the coaches there,SO that the game can go smoothly. In Beijing we will undertake a lot of work, and we
will stay there for about a week. All together, our trip will last about two weeks.

It is said that the world without love like the fish without water. I think it is right. Love is of utmost importance to us humans. Love is like the sunshine which makes people feel warm. Love is like the light in the dark which can give people hope and call forth peoples strength and help them step out of their difficulties. In our world, everybody not only needs love, but also should give others love.
I can think of no better illustration of this idea than the following example. For instance when someone is starving to death, just a little food and water from you may save his life. Again, when a little girl in a poor rural area drops out of school because of poverty, just a small sum of money from you may support her to finish school and change her life. In these case/circumstances you have given love which is like a lamp in a dark place where light is most needed.
Were I supposed to introduce one place in my campus for my foreign friend, the first place come up to our mind automatically is the student pavilion.
The reason why I am in favor of it is that student pavilion plays a positive role in improving students studies. Due to their heavy schedules, students are often busy with textbooks and seldom expose themselves to a colorful life. But the place which holds a variety of activities from time to time range from academic to recreational, such as academic reports, speech contests, paintings clubs, etc. All these activities provide opportunities for students to enrich their knowledge and relax themselves.
All in all, student pavilion opens the door for students to develop and enjoy themselves. I am sure if you come to the student pavilion, youll be bound to love it.
Can money buy happiness? Various people have various answers. Some people think that money is the source of happiness. With money, one can buy whatever he enjoys. With money, one can do whatever he likes. So, in their minds, money can bring comfort, security, and so on. Money, as they think, is the source of happiness.
But there are still a lot of others who think that money is the root of all evil. Money drives people to steal, to rob, and to break the law. A lot of people became criminals just because they were in search of money. And in the Western countries, there is nothing that cant be bought by money. Many people lose their own lives when hunting it.
I think that money is essential to life and we cannot do without money. But even though money is necessary to life, it cant buy happiness. Happiness is not something that can be measured by money. It is a state of mind. One can have plenty of money, with which he can buy whatever he wants, and at the same time he is not happy because he is never satisfied or he is troubled by various kinds of problems. Therefore, although money is necessary for a happy life, it cant buy happiness.
Nowadays, China‘s cities are getting increasingly crowded. The rapid increase in population is being made worse by the steady influx of people from the rural areas seeking employment. As a result, heavy traffic is a big headache, with all the roads packed with cars, bicycles and pedestrians.
In my opinion, there are two ways to solve the problem. One is to build more and wider roads to make the public highways less crowded and speed up the flow of traffic. The other is to expand the number of public bus routes, so that more people can be transported and fewer people will have to travel by car or bicycle.
However, each of these solutions brings problems with it. The former may occupy too much land that could be used for farms or houses; the latter may cause inconvenience for long periods in bus lines. I think the best answer to the problem of heavy traffic is a combination of the two: build more roads in places where land is less useful, and at the same time increase the number of public bus routes.
Over the past couple of years, a variety of talent shows have emerged on TV channels across the nation, from Super Girls to Happy Boys and so forth. This type of entertainment program is intensely popular, especially among young adults and has produced profound impacts on their studies and life.
There are a couple of reasons behind the tide. To start with, young folks need role models to learn from. So many of them are crazy for contestants participating in these programs. This gives rise to the increasing emergence of these shows because TV networks naturally need to cater to young audiences. Plus, thanks to economic and political reforms carried out by the government, this crop of young generation have more freedom and desire to express and showcase themselves. Therefore, a growing number of young people desire to get involved in these shows.
This is a divisive topic. On my personal level, the talent show is a superb means of relaxing and amusing and can hugely relieve our strains. As college students, however, we could not afford to indulge in them and should be aware of the utmost importance of studies.
Dormitory life is an indispensable part of college life. But sometimes the harmony in the dormitory is disturbed in one way or another.
As is known to all, a harmonious dormitory life is important to college students and benefits all the members. On the one hand, we can have a good rest and put our heart into study. On the other hand, we will have a good mood and enjoy being together.
There are several ways to create and maintain a harmonious dormitory life. Firstly, you have to evaluate your life-style and try to get rid of your dirty habits, if there are any. Secondly, when an annoying situation arises, you’ll just have to learn to tolerate each other and co-exist. Thirdly, you’ll have to share with each other and make good friends.
In conclusion, we should j try our best tobuild harmonious dormitory life for the sake of.good study and sood life.
Every year, million of college students will sit in for the post-graduate entrance examination. More and more students have regarded the pursuing of a master degree as an indispensable part of their education. What is to account for their enthusiasm for a post-graduate diploma?
First, it is the demand of the time. In an age of knowledge updating and information explosion, what you have learned in college can hardly meet the demand of society. Talents of high quality who are equipped with the latest knowledge and skill will be needed more than ever. That is why many students will further their studies.
Second, we all recognize that the more education you have, the more likely you are to succeed. Compared with those without a master degree, masters will enjoy more preferential treatment, for example, better salaries, more opportunities for promotion and training. A post-graduate degree can guarantee a more promising career.
Last but not least, with the graduation of a large number of college students, competition for jobs becomes more and more fierce. One way to gain some advantage over others is to have a higher degree.
No wonder millions of students will consider pursuing a post-graduate degree.
Nowadays, more and more people, especially the young are joining in the army of the moonlight clan. These people exhaust their earnings every month without any savings. Many people think this is a fashionable life style, while more other people object to this kind of consumption style.
Those who support the moonlight clan think that those people know how to enjoy life and have a higher life quality. However, more other people criticize the moonlight clan. They say that the consumption habit of the moonlight clan is unhealthy and sometimes wasteful. In addition, no savings will place the moonlight clan in a difficult position in case of unexpected expenses.
Weighing these two arguments, I prefer to the latter one. In my eyes, though the moonlight clan may acquire temporary satisfaction from their consumption, in the long term, it is unfavorable to their family and career. Just as a proverb says, one should always prepare for a rainy day.
